Medicine For The Soul.

We use the word ‘medicine’ quite often these days, the words ‘disease’ and ‘medicine’ have become hot topic among  people. No matter where you go it has become highly likely that these words will be mentioned, in fact we have become so dependent on medicines that more than half the readers of this article will read this article just because of existence of the word ‘medicine’ in the headline.
But medicine is not the permanent solution to our problems, if we start taking a medicine for high BP, diabetes, pain it becomes a daily habit for us which is not normal the problem with people is not the diseases but the thoughts which is making our souls suffer. We physically treat the body but we are not aware about the spiritual connection.
If we go back in time our ancestors never were dependent on these medicines because there weren’t any. Most of the problems were either treated with Ayurveda (natural herbs) or healed themselves. The belief in oneself/nature has transformed into belief in medicines. People are taking “medicine for the body” but no such medicine for the soul i.e. Meditation. The reason behind this is when body is ill the symptoms are visible but as far as our soul is concerned there are no symptoms hence there is no awareness about its sufferings and those sufferings are created by us and we put the blame on  people around us or the circumstances for these sufferings and if nothing else fits we start calling that disease hereditary.
We are physically present in the world but  we are not connected with our body because we are never living in the present we are either entangled in our past or concerned about our future. Being in contact with the body means a deep sensitivity. You may not even feel your body- it happens that only when you are ill do you feel your body. There is a headache, then you feel the head; without the headache there is no contact with the head. There is pain in the leg and you become aware of the leg. You become aware only when something goes wrong.
If everything is okay you remain completely unaware. We are unaware of well being. We have almost lost the capacity to the real “We”. To get to know more about ‘WE’, we will have to connect to ourselves first.
Medicine for the soul is “Meditation”.
Meditation means the connection with oneself, connection with nature. Try to make a contact with your body when everything is good. This will lead you to the connection with soul. If you are connected with your soul then you will be    aware. Everyone has the ability to breathe but we hardly have ever given it a thought. That is the reason that when one learns about the basics of meditation, they are taught to first focus on their breath.
Just lie down on the grass, close the eyes, feel the sensation that is going on within, the well-being that is bubbling inside. Lie down in a river. The river is touching the body and every cells is being cooled. Feel inside how that coolness enters, cell by cell and goes deep into the body. The body is a great phenomenon, one of the miracles of nature. So try to be more and more sensitive to your body. Listen to it; it goes on saying many things, and you are so head oriented that you never listen to it.
Instead of believing in medicines, if we start believing in ourselves all our problems would be gone.
